18世紀初頭のイングランドで、病弱なアン女王を操って宮廷での実権を握る女官長サラ。
そんなある日、彼女の従妹アビゲイルが召し使いとして宮廷で働き始める。
やがてアビゲイルはサラの知らない間に女王と親密な仲になり、次第に野心を膨らませていく。
